Sixth Step:

Guru is the medium for obtaining boon called Name.

Slok Mahla 1 (Guru Nanak Dev Ji):
(The) Muslims praise Islamic (law, they) repeatedly recite (and) reflect (on it).
(True) human (being is) one who gets bonded in (attempts) to get (a) vision (of the Almighty).
(The) Hindus (through the) shastras praise (the) Praiseworthy (Almighty who is) endless (&) beautiful.
(They) bathe (at) holy-places, pray (with) offerings (and) sandalwood scented incense.
All (the) yogis (in) samadhi contemplate (on the) Name (of) Creator (calling Him) Invisible.
Subtle (is His) idol (and His) Name (is the) shape of (His) flawless body.
(The) virtuous mentally grow contented (developing the) thought of giving (to others).
(But internally, in lieu of) various givings, (they) seek thousand times (in return from Almighty though the) world showers praises (on them as donors).
(Numerous are the) thieves, adulterers, false, wrongdoers and sinners.
They consume (what they) have (and) depart (from) this (world and) they too (are allocated) some duty (by the Almighty).
Creatures (have been formed in) water (&) land (in this) world (&) beyond (in different) shapes (&) forms.
Whatever they (all may) say, You (Almighty are in the) know (of everything and are the) basis (of) their support too.
Nanak (says the) devotees (desire ability to) praise (You as their) hunger (and the) True Name (as the) foundation (of their life).
(They) remain (in) eternal bliss day (&) night (and consider themselves to be the) dust (of the) feet (of the) virtuous. ||1||

M. 1 (Guru Nanak Dev Ji):
Mud (from cemetery) of (the) Muslim becomes clay (for the) potter's-wheel.
(It) gets turned (into) pots (&) bricks (and) cries as (it) burns.
(The) poor (clay) burns (and while) burning (it) cries, (it suffers the) fire flames rising (from the) burning-coals.
(The) Creator Who (has) formed (this worldly) existence only Himself knows (the true import of all its happenings).
(The context in this slok is the Muslim belief that the dead should only be buried and that their burning leads to their being tortured with fire in hell. Guru Nanak says that the dispute about burying or burning is of no consequence, the judgment of Almighty on the future of soul is on the basis of its performance during its life in the body). ||2||
Pauri (Guru Nanak Dev Ji):
Without (aid of the) True-Guru, no one (has) realized (the Almighty),
(Truely) no one (has) realized (the Almighty) without (aid of the) True-Guru. (Almighty has) placed Himself in (the body of the) True-Guru, (this) is revealed (through) clear speech.
Meeting (the) True-Guru (one) is (able to achieve) ultimate freedom, (this happens to one) who banishes attachment (from) within (his self).
This is (the) best thought, (for) those (who have) developed (mental) affinity with (the) True-Being,
(In this manner has one) realized (the Almighty who Himself is the) Provider (of) life (to the) world. || 6 ||
