Almighty's Name is the basis of salvation for a human being with limited life span.
Slok M 1 (Guru Nanak Dev Ji):
All minutes (are like) Gopies* (and) hours (are like) Lord Krishnas.

Wind, water (&) fire (are like the) ornaments (and) Moon (&) Sun (are the) incarnations.
Entire earth (is like the) assets (&) property (in) enactment (of this) worldly drama (of mammon).
Nanak (says) bereft (of) enlightenment, (its as if wasting the lifetime opportunity, people are) plundered (and) devoured (by the) Lord (of) Death. ||1||

(The) kicked up dust falling (on their own) hairs.
Seeing (them perform), people go home laughing.
(For the) sake (of) food, (they) resort (to) pleasing (others).
Throwing themselves on (the) ground.
Sing (acting as) Gopies (and) sing (as) Krishnas.
(Also) sing (performing acts as) Sitas (and) kings (like) Rama.
Fearless (and) Formless (is the) True ((Almighty and He can be realized through His) Name.
His creation is (this) entire cosmos.
Serve (Him the) followers (on whom is) shower (of) blessings.
Pleasant (are their) nights who (have) mental awakening.
Teaching (for) sikh (is to) contemplate (on) Guru's (directions).
Graceful (Almighty's) blessings (are the) means (of) salvation.
The oil-press, the spinning-wheel, the grinding-stones, the potter's-wheel.
Numerous unending whirlwinds (of) earth.
Spinning-tops, churning-rods, threshers.
Paper-wheel spinning (in the air) with no break.
(Similar to above items, many) creatures (are in) life-cycles (as if) put (on a) spindle-wheel.
Nanak (says) counting (of their) cycling (has) no end.
Bound (in) bondage (of mammon for their deeds, the) Almighty (decides the) cycle (for each soul).
(As a) consequence (of the performed) deeds, dance one (and) all.
(Those who), dancing (this) dance, (enjoy and) laugh, (they have to) cry (in repentance when) they depart.
(Such a person) cannot achieve (a) higher-level (of) becoming (a) saint.
Theatrics (of) dancing (are merely a) pass-time for (the) mind.
Nanak (says only those) who (are) fearful (of Almighty's rules, in) their mind (develops) love (for Him). ||2||
Pauri (Guru Nanak Dev Ji):
(O) Formless (Almighty), Your Name is (the touchstone),
ruminating (Your) Name (we) go not (to) hell.
Soul (&) body all belong (to) Him, (He) makes provision (for existence), saying (anything to the contrary is) purposeless.
If betterment (of) self (is) desired, do good (but be humble to get yourself) called lowly.
(Even) if (one feels) strong (enough to) beat (the old-age), old-age comes in disguise (of death).
No one survives (in this world when fixed quota of his breaths is) exhausted (and consequence of death has to be) faced. || 5 ||
